We have therefore reserved a space on our website to help pet owners distribute information about animals they need to re-home. We also suggest that you sign up for the Friends for Life Animal Rescue "Matchmaker" program, and post fliers in vet offices, pet stores and around your neighborhood.
Including - general temperament, good with other animals (dogs, cats) &/or people/kids, house/litter-trained, other personal habits

Karma is a 2 1/2 year old female pit-mix. She a medium size dog who weighs about 30-35 lbs. Karma is a very loyal companion who is very protective of her family. She is also very smart, enjoys running around the woods; playing catch with a ball is a favorite sport. She enjoys playing with other dogs but will growl or run after smaller animals such as small dogs or cats. My 21 year son is unable to take care of her at this time in his life; going through a divorce and has a toddler. Karma needs training to obey commands as she was not trained or adequately socialized by my son. She can be unpredictable when around strangers. She has a recurrent itchy skin rash of her lower body that was treated by the vet. We have tried changing her diet but haven't found out what the cause is yet. I apply topical herbal lotions on her rash. It might just be anxiety causing the rash, perhaps she is sensitive to the family break up. We really what to find a living home for Karma. Please come by to meet her.
Max is looking for a good home with a secure fenced yard. He is good with people, kids, dogs and cats! He does not do well when left alone in a house but is ok if left in a fenced yard. This mellow fellow is around 90 pounds.
Sammy, an "all-American" dog, was recently rescued through a collaborative effort of several animal-advocacy groups along with the cooperation of the fortuna Police Department, according to K9-Angels founder Gail Holder. The story of this 7 year old, 30 poun pooch began in September when local recue group Bless the Beasts was contacted by a distraught and critically ill man hospitalized at Redwood Memorial Hospital in Fortuna. It had been 48 hours since the patient was brought in by ambulance, and he was so worried about his dog - who had been left alone without food or access outside in the patient's tiny trailer - that the man tried to leave the hospital. A concerned nurse facilitated the call to Bless the Beasts, which, in turn, contacted Miranda's Rescue, K-9 Angels and Fortuna PD Animal Control. Robin Paul, the Fortuna PD director of animal Control was able to retrieve the panicked Sammy from his confines and the little dog was transported to Miranda's Rescue for a temporary stay until the owner got better. K-9 angels stepped in to provide grooming and vet care - including a complete blood panel and dental needs - as Miranda's continued offering sanctuary to this little dog whose owner was never to come and take him home. Following his release from Redwood Memorial, Holder said, the elderly, apparently terminally ill man left the state to live with family elsewhere. At that point, everyone involved in the dog's rescue had a new goal" "finding someone to provide Sam with a second chance at life," said Holder. "Sammy is sad, lonely and confused," she said, "but is expected to respond lovingly to a new guardian or family. And, after our consideratble invenstment in vet care, he is verifiably healthy with many years ahead." Rescuers are seeking a homeowner with a fenced yard, excellent vet references, patience and a heart full of compassion and love. Potentail adopters are invited to call K-9Angels at 707-496-4589 for an interview, Sammy's personality profile and history, and to arrange to meet this little dog who "dares to hope for a joyous new life," Holder said.
Buster is a wonderful boy! He loves everyone, including dogs and kids! Buster is a smart guy and knows how to: sit, shake, lay down, wait, come, no and fetch! He is pretty good off leash and knows how to settle down when in the house. Buster is potty trained, vet checked and in great health!
JAZZ IS LOOKING FOR HER NEW SOUL MATE. She is a happy, perky girl who loves to cavort and zip around in the yard. She’s been in foster care for 2 weeks and while still quite dependent on human companionship and closeness, she is gradually going off on her own to explore the yard and house. Jazz is deaf but no one would ever guess that when observing her! It does not phase her one bit!
Very small (13 lbs), still a young 7 years old, in good health, she was orphaned when her reclusive owner died in early November. Jazz has shown that she is a resilient little soul who knows where she can place her trust and she’s eager to do so.
She was living with 3 other dogs and a cat, all of whom she was compatible with, but, what she really wants is a devoted human companion to keep her safe, warm and cuddled.
She’s had her vet check up, is up to date on her vaccinations, microchipped and spayed.
She is smart, lively, respectful, eager to please and knows that she needs to be watching for what's going on around her. She's curious, mellow, gentle and very affectionate. She already knows at least 1 or 2 hand signals and is eager to learn more. She rides well in the car and is a great all-around little gal.
We are looking for a home for her where she'll have lots of human company and can have the extra safety and security needed for a dog who cannot hear.
Kira is a fantastic girl! She is potty trained, does well alone in the house, and know sit, stay, come and back off! Kira is good with dogs, cats and kids. She loves to play fetch and cuddle!
Naughty is looking for a good home, her family is staying in a shelter and can not keep her. She has a medium/low energy level. Naughty is good with dogs and children but can be a bit shy with new adults. She is potty trained and well behaved alone in the house.
Lucy is a loyal little princess, she is ok with cats and is paper-trained. Lucy is good with people she knows and is great with our children.
Lela is looking for a home that is loving and patient! She has a medium energy level and enjoys running in the yard. Lela is potty trained and does great with other dogs when off leash! She is great with children, very gentle.

BIG, HAPPY, ACTIVE, SWEET BOY MILES IS LOOKING FOR HIS SOULMATE!
Miles is a big Tootsie Roll of a dog who has been bounced around so many times we’ve lost count. He just wants a home where he can count on his humans to be there for him for all his needs…daily and forever.
Miles weighs about 90 pounds (built like a truck), is about 4 years old, neutered, up to dates on vaccines and micro-chipped. He’s a mix of Pit Bull Terrier and Queensland Heeler. He has a pitty build with heeler markings.
We are looking for an active household without children (he is part Queensland Heeler so he does occasionally like to heel/nip when he plays). He should also be in a home without small animals as he has a high prey drive for them. We know he prefers the company of female dogs but there could be a compatible male in his future.
Miles loves to please and knows his basic obedience. He re-directs quickly and has good recall. An active dog that needs stimulation and interaction, Miles adores playing ball and going for walks; then, after activity, enjoys just hanging out and cuddling. This is a boy that either needs fenced property to run on OR an active owner that likes taking him places. Is he the dog for you?

Max is a handsome fellow with sleek tabby fur. He is okay with new people, children, small dogs and cats. He is sensitive to fleas and like to play!
Breed: German Shepherd Mix
Gender: Fixed Male
Age: 1 year
Characteristics: Bullet is a super playful and silly 6 month old German Shepherd mix. He was bit in the head by another dog in November, but has made a great recovery and is ready to move into his forever home. He loves to hop around and play with the other dogs here at the clinic, as well as jump into the staff's laps for cuddles. He is currently being fostered, working on his training, and is really loving doggie daycare. He can sit and lay down like a good boy. He would do really well in a home with children age 10 and above. He is fully vaccinated and neutered. A home visit and small adoption fee is required. We are currently looking for foster care for him as well as his forever home.
ADOPT SENSITIVE, SWEET, MELLOW GIRL WHITNEY
ADOPT OUTGOING, SWEET. GENTLE BIG GIRL HAILEY
HAILEY is a sweet, playful, young lady who has been waiting for a couple years now for a home where she’s given what she needs and deserves. She is a stunningly beautiful English Mastiff who was abandoned when her owner moved away and left her in a situation that lacked proper care and attention; when this became known to neighbors, she was taken to the County Shelter by Animal Control. Due to all the upsets in her life, she was fearful and thus not put up for adoption.
