Programs

The Sequoia Humane Society is a no-kill animal shelter that operates adoption, spay/neuter, education and microchipping programs to promote responsible pet ownership and reduce the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Humboldt County. Please select from the following choices to learn more about our life-saving programs.

child-dog-8 Adoption
Thank you for considering the adoption of a pet from the Sequoia Humane Society. Our adoption process is designed to help insure a good match, for you and for the animal?A match that will be a happy one for many years to come.
catanddog Spay/Neuter
There is a pet overpopulation problem in Humboldt County, resulting in too many animals and not enough homes to place them in. However, we can prevent the birth of unwanted animals and work toward a day when there are no more homeless pets by spaying and neutering our own cats and dogs, as well as feral cats within your neighborhood.
Pup__Kitty5 Education
At its most basic level, humane education is about learning to care for the animals in our homes and communities. It is about fostering kindness, respect and empathy for both human and nonhuman animals, and looking after the environment and its diverse habitats. Unlike science and other academic disciplines, humane education has a philosophical component that strives to establish a sense of responsibility and make the world a better, more humane place.
microchip_dog_scanner Microchip
Pets can run away or get lost. The Sequoia Humane Society wants to help you keep your pets safe. In addition to a collar with identification tags, microchipping your pet will ensure that they are returned to you.
