SHS Press Release
SEQUOIA HUMANE SOCIETY MICROCHIP SPECIAL A DOGGONE SUCCESS! SEQUOIA HUMANE SOCIETY MICROCHIP SPECIAL A DOGGONE SUCCESS!

One hundred and thirty nine dogs and cats were microchipped last week as part of the Sequoia Humane Society's $10 microchip special - that's 139 animals that will be returned to their owners should they become lost, and 139 LESS animals that will end up in a shelter or other adoption program.

"Offering low-cost microchipping is just one way the Sequoia Humane Society provides a public service to our community," says Cynthia MacMillan, executive director. "Finding good homes for all adoptable animals, reducing pet overpopulation through spay/neuter, and reunited lost pets with their owners are all important to improving the quality of life for animals on the North Coast."

At least one dog was reunited with its owner over the weekend as a result of being microchipped at the Sequoia Humane Society last week. Julia Wilkes reports that her Yorkshire Terrier got out of her yard but was delivered safely into her arms when it was scanned and a microchip registered to her was found.

It's important for pet owners to remember to change their contact information when they move, so that their animals can always be traced back to them. All animals adopted from the Sequoia Humane Society have been microchipped. If your pet is not yet microchipped, visit the Sequoia Humane Society's Pet Adoption Center Tuesday through Friday from noon to 5pm - no appointment is necessary, and for $25 you can ensure that your pet always finds its way home.

For more information on microchipping contact the Sequoia Humane Society at 442-1782.
