Problem: Too Many Animals - At SHS we receive dozens of calls a day: "I found a stray animal", "I can't keep my dog", or "There are too many cats in my neighborhood!" There are too many animals in Humboldt County and not enough good homes for them. Even with all the shelters, rescues and other animal welfare organizations we can't save every needy animal. There is only one solution: SPAY/NEUTER! You can help reduce the number of homeless animals and prevent unwanted births by spaying and neutering you own pets. One female cat and her progeny can produce 420,000 kittens in an average 7-year lifespan - just one! By spaying one stray or feral cat you can save hundreds of thousands of kittens, most of whom would be destined to live short and miserable lives without food, shelter or human companionship. Please, help us create a community where each animal is a cherished pet, and no animal suffers from neglect or abuse. The Sequoia Humane Society, Companion Animal Foundation, Friends for Life Animal Rescue & the Humboldt Spay/Neuter Network offer low-cost spay/neuter programs for owned and/or feral cats and dogs. Visit us today and help us help our animal friends!
