ODEN & JASPER LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER—TOGETHER!
Born to a feral mom, Oden & Jasper spent the first few weeks of their lives living in a woodshed before they were brought to the Sequoia Humane Society. Since they were still too young to eat regular kitten food SHS employee Susan Pahl took them home so they could be bottle fed (and spoiled) until they were old enough to be adopted. Then Tina & Colin came to the SHS Pet Adoption Center looking for a kitten—and left with two! “The kittens are getting sweeter and more rambunctious by the day!" reports Tina. “They are getting so big! Thanks for all the wonderful work you do to save these precious animals."
ARLENE & HOPE—THE PERFECT PAIR
Hope was found abandoned along Elk River Road—emaciated and covered in ticks. While she had obviously been neglected she was still very affectionate—rolling over on her back to have her belly rubbed and purring at every opportunity. She was estimated to be only 4 years old but was marked with the signs of a rough life—a torn ear, dull coat, fur worn off her nose and bony hips due to malnutrition. Hope gained 2 pounds in her first month at the shelter! She was beginning to recover from her ordeal but continued to show signs of listlessness—until she met Arlene! Arlene saw Hope’s picture in the newspaper and fell in love. “When we placed Hope on Arlene’s lap it was obvious they were the perfect pair," says Cynthia MacMillan, SHS Executive Director. “I couldn’t have wished for a better home for Hope." Arlene reports that Hope is very happy in her new home. “She runs all over the house and has taken over my bed! The grandkids absolutely love her! She’s eating well and her coat is starting to get glossy. I’m so happy we found each other."
MARY GIVES JADE A FOREVER HOME...THEN COMES BACK TO ADOPT MIMI TOO!
Mary came to the Sequoia Humane Society looking for an older dog. When Mary saw Jade’s picture on the SHS website she felt that Jade’s eyes were saying, “Come and get me!" Mary tells us that Jade is the best dog, “She sleeps in bed with me all night." Soon after Jade told Mary that she wanted an old dog buddy, so Mary returned to the SHS website and fell in love with Mimi, a 7-year old Jack Russell Terrier. “Jade liked Mimi immediately," reports Mary. “Her tail started wagging as soon as she met her!" The three of them are living happily ever after, leading their old dog lives. Aside from daily walks and playing in the yard, Mary says they are couch potatoes. Mimi even has a leopard print bed!
