Hello SHS!I thought I'd send you all an update on "Jinx", the black and white 8-month old kitten. I adopted him last week, and my family and I just couldn't be happier with him. He's such an affectionate, playful, loving boy! He's a real joy to be around, and he seems to really enjoy life here in his new home. My family and I decided to re-name him with a Scottish name -- Fergus Fraser, or "Fergie" for short. My older cat, Ron, absolutely loves Fergie! Though Ron is nearly 4 years old, he's about at the same maturity level as Fergie ;) Fergie's proved to be the perfect playmate for him. Ron and Fergie have become instant friends and enjoy rough-housing and running around the house together. Many thanks for helping me adopt this wonderful boy! He is VERY much loved :) All the Best, Kristin Mack Hello to all at the Sequoia Humane Society,
In January I began my search for a new pet/companion to add to my family of 3. I began looking on the internet and by chance checked the Sequoia Humane Society, a no-kill animal shelter. There we found a little puppy named Pork Chop, an American Bulldog. My fiancé is originally from Eureka and we were planning a trip to visit her mother who still lives there, so we were able to visit the shelter. I was looking for this breed because this was the breed we owned previously and had to euthanize a few years ago. We went to take a look at Pork Chop and the whole family fell in love with him. The staff was very friendly they were also very informative about Pork Chop's health. They informed us that a few people had put in applications to adopt Pork Chop, so we submitted our application and hoped for the best. A few weeks later our application was approved and Pork Chop became a member of our family. I had to drive 10 hours round trip that day and it was worth every minute. Since we have had Pork Chop he has brought joy and happiness to our lives. He is such a healthy and fun loving companion. We recently took a family trip to Santa Cruz where he was able to run free on the beach; he reminded me of a child. This is only my second pet and I really did not know where to look. My fiancé has dealt with SHS on three prior occasions; this will be her fourth. I would recommend to anyone looking to save the life of an animal to check their local shelters. These animals truly deserve the love and time. Sincerely, Ron Gordon, Alison Slaughter & Kaia Gordon Hi SHS,I adopted Ginger (now ChattyCat) two weeks ago. She has adapted beautifully and is fearless as she explores. She even followed the vacuum cleaner this morning. She's eating well, playing well, and gets along with my ditzy male, Bingle, as if they've been together for years. These two cats are a joy to watch as they play together. Bingle needed a companion, ChattyCat needed a home, they both have what they needed. My thanks to all of you at Sequoia.
