Private Adoptions
The Sequoia Humane Society (SHS) aims to help find permanent, loving homes for all adoptable animals. Due to space limitations, we cannot admit every animal looking for a new home into our shelter. We have therefore reserved a space on our website to help pet owners distribute information about animals they need to re-home. We also suggest that you sign up for the Friends for Life Animal Rescue "Matchmaker" program, and post fliers in vet offices, pet stores and around your neighborhood. If you are looking to rehome a pet, please send an e-mail to humane@sequoiahumane.org, including:
*Disclaimer: The Sequoia Humane Society does not guarantee the health or temperament of any private adoption animal listed on its website. Private adoption agreements are between the animal's original guardian and the individual looking to adopt the animal. All parties using this website agree to release SHS from any responsibility related to the private adoption process.
A collaborative effort between the Humboldt County Animal Services Shelter, BONES, the Sequoia Humane Society, Friends for Life, a generous, discount from the vet, as well as donations from the community, made it possible for Boomer to leave the shelter, get treatment for his leg, get neutered and get up to date on shots. When the vet tried to pin the leg, he found the injury was actually about three weeks old. Because of the age of the injury, there was not choice but to amputate Boomer's leg. Boomer has adjusted quite well to having only three legs to tool around on, and loves to play. He is still learning not to get tangled in his leash and fall over, but other than that he is a very fun loving puppy who is looking for a great home to spend the rest of his life in. Boomer is a neutered 5 month old male, who is up to date on shots. Boomer went to the pet fair at the Farm Store and met many dogs and people of all sizes and loved them all. He is a totally solid dog! Even when Boomer has been in pain, he continues to be very loving and forgiving - this very special boy needs an equally special home! For more information call:
Bahgwan is a 5-year old Great Pyrenes, male neutered, and current on shots. He is very sweet dog with special needs. Last July, a wire got wrapped tightly around Bahgwan's right rear ankle cutting off the circulation. Our Vet decided to amputate the toes in order to save the leg. So we have been caring for the wound ever since. We live in a very small cabin with our two kids and are unable to have Bahgwan in our house. Therefore, we struggled to keep his bandage dry. As we also live on top of a very steep mountain, we are unable to take him for walks because the steep, rocky terrain only damages his foot more. Due to these circumstances we have come to the difficult decision that we need to find a new home for Bahgwan in order for his needs to be met. We feel that Bahgwan needs a home with a flat fenced yard and would do really well being a house dog. He needs a special person with lots of love and time to give. He is a VERY loving, gentle dog good with children and other dogs, and an excellent patient who has never complained about his situation. If you would like to talk to me abut Bahgwan, please call me at (707) 499-4441. Thank you for caring, Jennifer Graeff. If anyone knows of a potential home for Bahgwan, you can also reply by e-mail (petram_1@yahoo.com) to me, I can forward the info the Jennifer.
